Motherboard Price in India: What Boards Cost by Generation in 2026

Motherboard prices by generation — what DDR3 revival boards, DDR4 mainstream boards and DDR5 boards cost, and how to match one to your CPU.

Motherboard prices in India confuse buyers for one simple reason: a "motherboard" can mean a ₹3,000 board that revives a ten-year-old office PC or a ₹15,000 board for a current i7 — and the sticker rarely explains which world it belongs to. The generation does. Here's the honest price map, and how to pick without overpaying.

Motherboard price in India by generation

  • DDR2/DDR3 revival boards (G31, G41, H55, H61, H81, B75) — ₹3,000 to ₹5,500. New boards for older Intel processors, the honest way to bring a working 2nd/3rd/4th-gen PC back to life instead of scrapping it. Many now come NVMe-ready, which transforms how fast an old machine feels.
  • DDR4 mainstream boards (H110, H310, H410, H510, H610) — ₹7,000 to ₹9,600. The working band for 6th- through 12th-gen Intel builds — office desktops, home PCs and budget gaming. NVMe is standard here; Wi-Fi on board adds a few hundred rupees and saves an adapter.
  • DDR5 current boards (B760, Z790) — ₹11,500 to ₹15,500+. For 12th/13th/14th-gen builds that want current memory speeds and full PCIe lanes — gaming rigs and workstations that will live for years.

What actually decides a board's price

Five things: the chipset generation (which CPUs it accepts), the memory generation (DDR3, DDR4 and DDR5 are physically incompatible — a board belongs to exactly one), NVMe M.2 support (the single feature most worth paying for on any board), onboard Wi-Fi, and the quality of the power delivery feeding the CPU. A ₹15,000 board is not "5× better" than a ₹3,000 one — it belongs to a different processor generation entirely.

Match the CPU first, always

The socket and chipset decide everything: an H61 board takes 2nd/3rd-gen Intel (LGA1155), H81 takes 4th-gen (LGA1150), H110/H310 take 6th/7th-gen (LGA1151), H510/H610 take 10th/11th-gen (LGA1200) and newer, and B760/Z790 take the current LGA1700 chips. Buy the board for the processor you have — or the one you've actually chosen — never the other way around. And because the board fixes your memory generation too, read our DDR3 vs DDR4 vs DDR5 guide before pairing RAM with it.

The checklist before you buy

  • CPU compatibility confirmed — socket and chipset, not just "Intel".
  • An NVMe M.2 slot — even on a revival board, it's the difference between an old PC and a fast old PC.
  • The RAM generation you already own — or budget for new sticks with the board.
  • GST invoice and warranty in writing — a board is the one part you never want to buy grey-market.

The POWERX motherboard range covers every band above — G31 to Z790, most NVMe-ready, many with Wi-Fi — each delivered with a GST invoice and warranty served from five branches across India: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Vashi, Pune and Hyderabad.
